Skill-1~attack, strength, defence 1-99
Skill-2~mage
Skill-3~range

Free to Play

Item needed: any sword, the best armor you can find, sense of direction

Before starting your training please know that this is a guide for normal players not pures.

Second you must understand what each of the combat skills will help with:

Attack – the higher attack the more hits you will deal.
Strength – the higher the strength the higher you will hit.
Defence – the higher the defence the less you will be dealt.
Hit points – the higher the hit points the more life you have.

Levels 1-10

If you have a good sword, great! If not, follow these instructions to find an iron dagger (better than nothing).

1 – If you are somewhere you don’t recognize open up the mage book (the top right book on the screen) and click on the first spell you see that’s different from all other (it is blue with an “h” in the middle of it) and just wait a couple seconds.

2 – After you pop up in the new place (Lumbridge) walk straight west to exit the castle. (If you need to get something out of the bank, walk inside the castle by walking west; after you get inside, go ether north or south past the doors and then go west till you find a ladder, then just go up two times you should see the bank.) After exiting the castle you will see the world get a little bigger; walk a little bit north east and you will find a bridge cross it. Once on the other side you should see a bunch of green looking creatures (goblins); follow the path you are on a little bit north and you will see a little house to the west. Go inside.

3 – On the south east side corner of the house you should see a crate. Right north of that crate, you will find the iron dagger. Pick it up and wield it (left click it); after wielding it, go on the attack style menu (two swords on the top left side of your panel). You will see 4 small squares with the words:

Stab – click it if you want to train your attack
Lunge – click it if you want to train your strength
Slash – click it if you want to train your strength
Block – click it if you want to train your defence

Well, after figuring out what you want to train, click on it. The square you click on will become red.

Ok, now on with the guide. There are a couple of things I want to tell you before we start training.

First of all my methods of training might be different from what most people have, and if you think they are not even worth trying, then simply don’t try.

From level 1-10 there can be a couple of methods of training. For example:

If you have food, I would recommend killing goblins to level 10 of what ever style you prefer. You need to kill 58 goblins in order to get level 10. Remember where your bank is in case you need some food, and if you don’t have food, I recommend bringing only 3 items or just the iron dagger because then you don’t have to worry about dying. If you die, you will pop up in Lumbridge, so just walk back to the spot you were training in.

I suggest killing the goblins right behind the Lumbridge castle. Simply walk east until you exit the castle then just follow the northern wall until you see the goblins.

Kill 58 of them and you will get 10 of what ever style you are training for, and you will also get hit points levels. If you kill 58 of them you will only grow 1 hit point level; if you get 2 of the styles to 10, you will get to level 13 hit points; and if you get all 3 styles to level 10, you will get 14 hit points.

Here is a combat level table:

Styles

Attack
Strength
Defence
Hit points levels

10
10
10
14 Combat level

Checking your combat level as you go along is very easy. Just like before, go into the fighting style panel and you will see the place where it says “combat level” and also the weapon you are wielding.

Ok, now to move on…

If you are a member it is pretty much the same at the beginning because there isn’t much more to do at those levels.

Levels 10-20

After getting your first couple of levels, you should get the handle on how to train. However, remember that you are still low level and should not get ahead of yourself. Well, I am going to start hurrying up and telling you the best ways to level and how many kills.

What to bring – I say bring full iron armor because it is cheap and just in case anything happens you wont lose much. Also, bring maybe 1 to 5 bites of food of any kind, although you won’t really need it.

From levels 10 to 20 you need 3316 XP – might not seem like much since you get 4 XP every 1 hit, but trust me, at low levels it gets really hard. My opinion would be to go kill monks at the monastery (prayer guild); if you know where it is, head there right now. If you don’t know, then I have a guide for getting there, too.

1 – Do exactly what you did to get the iron dagger. Start off by teleporting to Lumbridge Castle by using the home teleport.

2 – Walk east to exit the castle. Once outside you will see a path on the floor heading either south or north. Follow the north path all the way until you see it curve towards the west, then follow it west all the way. You will see it split to the north but don’t worry about it, just keep following the west path. Here you will come to a 4 way split.

Take the north path. Once you get past the fences to either side of you, go straight east until you come up to a place with about 5 rocks and a house.

From here, go straight up north all the way until you see a river running alongside of you and a fence.

From here, head northwest. You will come to the center of a village (Barbarian Village).

After getting here, head straight west until you get out of the village, which shouldn’t be to far.

3 – Follow all the way northwest and you will see a building. Go up to the center of it and here you are in the monastery! Hopefully you can find a world without too many people in it because this is a popular spot.

Well, what to do now that you’ve arrived? First off, find a spot with a monk and try to get comfortable with where he responds after each kill. If you don’t have food and you are getting owned just run away before you die and go up to another monk that is not being attacked and ask him to heal you. This is one of the main reasons why this is such a great place to train.

Now I could tell you how many you need to kill from levels 10-20, but the truth is it’s really hard to say because the monks heal themselves, causing you to get more XP than normal from each kill. So, I just say stay here and get as many levels as you want. It is really fast once you get to about 15 on attack, strength, and they stop hitting really often at about 20 defence.

Levels 20-40

This is were training gets a little tough; if you are a non-member you will need 32,754 XP to gain the 20 levels, and you also don’t have many options to train for non- members.

What to bring – I say bring the same as always, full iron (if you can afford better, then hey. go right ahead and bring the best you can wear). Now for the weapon, I think you should bring the best kind of weapon you can wield. If you have 20 attack, then bring mithril scimitar as this is a fast and strong weapon.

By now you should be a little better with directions. If not, then follow me lol. We are going to go kill hillgiants; these are great for training and have awesome drops. Now, there is a catch – the only way to get inside the dungeon where they are located is with a brass key.

These keys have a respawn point inside the Edgeville dungeon but it is a far walk, so our best bet would be to just buy one from a player at Varrock west bank. Buy it for no more than 1k, and when you are ready to go start at varrock west bank and get all you need out of it. I would say bring food with you since the giants hit hard although not very often.

I would recommend not banking too often since this is, after all, a power leveling method and it would take long. However, for every drop pick up the coins, and bones as well. Bury the bones for some good old prayer XP (read the prayer guide), and pick up the iron armor the giants drop and sell it at the general stores in Varrock.

It will take 234 kills to level 40 of any style and the best way to keep track of this is with your prayer level. After killing 235 giants, you will be at level 18 prayer; that is, if you just started getting prayer up. If not, then just follow it by the XP.
